Polo Rivals Go Head to Head in “Arranmore Polo Classic”

Sunday’s 3rd Annual “Arranmore Polo Classic” featured competitive high goal polo between rival teams Arranmore and Oak Brook Polo. After six chukkers, Oak Brook prevailed with a 9-2 win.
The “Classic” is Arranmore’s signature tournament event where guests are treated with unique pre-match access to the club's barns and horses, along with premium field-side views of the action.
The Arranmore team was captained by John Greene (Hcap A) and included Delmer Walton (Hcap 3), Adrian Garcia (Hcap 3) and Lindor Novillo Corvalan (Hcap 4). Oak Brook was led by Jim Drury (Hcap A) and includedMariano Gutierrez (Hcap 4), Tomas “Toto” Obregon (Hcap 4), and Horacio Onetto (Hcap 4). Jack Murphy and Todd Rackley served as the two officiating umpires.
Oak Brook’s Onetto received MVP honors and his mare, Vera, was awarded “Best Playing Pony” for the match.
“Excellent field conditions made for a spectacular and exciting match,” explains Greene.
Family-owned and operated by the Greene family since 1999, Arranmore is situated on 300 stunning acres of lush land. For the past eighteen years, it has played host to private polo matches with some of thetop players from around the world. In 2015, Arranmore CEO Shannon Greene Robb was wanting to incorporate a ‘community feel,’ and began producing events open to the public such as festivals, unique concert experiences, specialty dinners, corporate events,private parties and of course… polo.
A portion of Arranmore’s seasonal profits go to their non-profit, ArranmoreArts, which launched in 2006 and provides unique performances and artisticeducational experiences for the youth in the community.
